TL; DR: Bsixx Kratom isn’t your typical kratom product; it also contains kava and blue lotus, as well as cayenne pepper to facilitate the absorption of these ingredients. Though I was initially a bit skeptical about the point of mixing these herbs, I was pleasantly surprised by their unique and relaxing effects. If you’re looking for a change of pace, give ‘em a try.
Last week I received a single kratom sample in the mail from Super Fun Cave: one tube of Bsixx Kratom Dietary Supplement. I had read about several products which mixed kratom with other “herbal remedies” (such as Floories Exotics and Kaboom), but had yet to sample any. I had mentioned this to my editor several months back, and had completely forgotten about it. Then, right before I had left for vacation, Super Fun Cave, where Bsixx Kratom is currently available for purchase, came through with a brand-spanking new sample to review while I was away in the Ozarks.
I have to admit that I was more motivated by doubts than genuine interest, when I had first requested a sample of this nature. Why combine the three? Yes, I get that they’re all legal, and they all produce effects that are different variants of relaxing. Just because alcohol prohibition ended (80 years ago), you don’t see me mixing and drinking tequila, rum, and SoCo, do you? And if I did, you shouldn’t be surprised if I upchuck all over my Chuck Taylors. I had tried Kava once before (thanks to a sample pack provided by Legal Herbal Shop, which is another review for another time), but never Blue Lotus (Nymphaea Caerulea). Most message board reviews are evenly split on the issue of its efficacy; some consider it to be a potent sedative and capable of inducing lucid dreams; others think the stuff is just bunk. One source made the important point that blue lotus—like any herb used for its potential pharmacological effects—depends on the quality and freshness of the herbs, as well as the constitution of the person consuming them. With that in mind, I decided to put my skepticism aside and approach these Bsixx Kratom capsules with an open mind.
Bsixx Kratom capsules are sold four-to-a-tube. The packaging isn’t really anything special: a resealable clear plastic tube with a white plastic stopper, and a black label featuring very small lettering that’s nearly illegible. The white gelatin capsules themselves are pretty large, and probably contain at least a full gram of pulverized plant matter. Even so, I have a stronger-than-average tolerance for kratom, so I figured that I’d start out with at least two capsules to assess their properties. I emptied the powdered contents of two capsules into a measuring cup, and decided to give it the usual preliminary sniff n’ taste tests. The powder in Bsixx capsules just smells strongly of kratom; it’s probably difficult to discern other scents over kratom’s bitter and earthy odor. In regards to its taste, I didn’t immediately detect anything other than kratom in the mix, though cayenne pepper was definitely apparent in the powder’s aftertaste.
After washing down the last bits of Bsixx with water, I decided to get out of my hotel room and take a walk. A little background: this vacation has had me walking on eggshells. I’m over 1000 miles away from home, and I’m staying in a hotel suite with my girlfriend and her extended family. While they’re very nice and hospitable people, I don’t stray from my comfort zone too often, and after working at home for the last two and a half years, my social skills are a bit lacking, to say the least. Out of fear of seeming like a total oddball, I’ve become excessively self-conscious, and I keep tripping over my words, making me look even more like a schmendrick.
20 minutes after gulping down a double-dose of Bsixx, I begin to feel its effects creeping in. There was a very slight feeling of stimulation—much less than that of most kratom products—but I still felt very good, positive, and outgoing. I no longer felt the slightest hint of any of the stress or tension that had me on edge for the last several days, and I had this weird urge to go socialize. I stopped at a local pizza joint, and spent the next 20 minutes chatting it up with the pretty blonde behind the counter. I wasn’t second-guessing my choice of words, and I wasn’t avoiding eye contact. I’m guessing this had to do with relaxing qualities of the three active ingredients in Bsixx Kratom in general, and specifically kava’s reputed ability to ease social anxiety. I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn’t single—otherwise, I felt gutsy enough to have asked this girl for her number.
When I got back to the hotel suite with pizza, I had managed to finally emerge from my shell. For the last few days, I had been hiding in a corner with my Kindle and beer. Now I felt comfortable enough to shoot the breeze about guns, cars, and sports with the menfolk of the family. Bsixx’s calming and upbeat effects lasted well into the early evening, and then some; I had some pretty crazy, fun, and extremely lucid dreams, which I can’t really go into here. Suffice to say that Blue Lotus’s ability to spice up dream activity is no myth.
As to the price of Bsixx Kratom, it’s admittedly a little on the pricey side: $12.95 for 4 capsules, which comes out to roughly three and a quarter per capsule. As much fun as I had with two capsules, I don’t think a single capsule by itself would have done the trick. However, I’d still say that this stuff is well worth it, at least as an occasional treat. Not only does it provide deep relaxation and very positive feelings, it also boasts the added effects of effectively relieving social anxiety and helping to induce lucid dreams. All in all, I’d give Bsixx Kratom 4 stars out of 5.
-Highly relaxing and uplifting
-Diminishes social anxiety
-May induce lucid dreaming
-A bit on the expensive side
